My aunty called me today to help her fix her home phone which was supposedly “down”. I got there and realized that her cordless phone battery just wouldn’t charge up even after one whole day of charging. She was clueless what on what to do ‘cause it’s her only mode of communication at home. And at her old age, the importance became even more evident.
So I told her that I’d be switching the other phone, which was in her bedroom, to the faulty one in the kitchen. Little did she know that it was possible. Of course, to me it was a no-brainer. But to my elderly, it was pure genius.
Then my uncle wanted me to put up a mirror in the toilet so that he can do his moustache-shaving regime every morning. Since my sister had bought the 3M stickers, I put it up to his desired height and in return I got a warm, appreciative word of thanks from him.
2 simple things (well at least to me) but it meant like a total new breath of life to them. The few minutes I spent with them certainly brought me back down to Earth.
How can I not live my life without them, I don’t know.
